Wordpress Move
PLEASE NOTE: I am only interested in hearing from WordPress experts who are intimately familiar with WordPress installations on both Linux and Windows servers.
I currently have a WordPress 2.8.4 + Thesis blog hosted on a Linux web server. There are some widgets and numerous plug-ins installed, and about 70 images have been uploaded. The WordPress files custom.css and custom_functions.php have both been modified.
There are many advantages to me if I can transfer that blog to a different host where it would be on a 64-bit system running…
* Windows Server 2008
* IIS7
* PHP 4 & 5 installed.
* MySQL 4 & 5 installed.
The domain name will remain the same.
All past posts, comments etc must remain intact.
The current blog is installed to the root (straight under public_html), but it would be preferable if WordPress was in its own folder on the new server. That’s not absolutely essential if it raises problems, but I would prefer it.
I need quotes from experts WHO HAVE DONE THIS SORT OF THING BEFORE, and your assurance that such a move can be 100% successful.
If the transfer was completely successful I would probably want the successful bidder to be available for ongoing maintenance/development for this and other WordPress blogs.
THE SUCCESSFUL BIDDER WILL NEED TO CONVINCE ME THAT HE/SHE HAS DONE THIS BEFORE AND CAN DO IT AGAIN.
Please feel free to ask any questions you need to.
I’ve been told this should be a simple job for someone who knows what they’re doing, but unfortunately that’s not me.
