Oscommerce site not sending emails by cgpt

Our Oscommerce site is not sending any order confirmation or account setup emails / password reset. This might be due to the server setup or it might be coding. We would be happy to use a different send method, ie using gmail to send the emails, if this is possible… (Budget: $30-250, Jobs: OSCommerce, PHP, Shopping Carts)
