Job Description

Description

You’re smart. You like thinking outside of the box. In fact, you don’t know what that box is good for anyway. You’re happiest when you figure out a way to turn a big bunch of complicated information into something simple and easy for the people who need to use and understand it. You notice the little things that can make or break an experience. And not only do you dare to ask why it can be different, but you have a pretty good idea about how to improve it and the unyielding desire to make it happen. At Siegel+Gale, you’ll put those skills to work by helping us create experiences that delight and engage consumers for some of the most well-known brands in the world. We work in all the spaces and places a consumer interacts with an organization—print, online, mobile, tablet and physical spaces. We believe that individual interactions, even the most fleeting ones, matter just as much as the overall experience—and the strategies we develop reflect that. Are you nodding your head, wondering why you’re not already working here? Then you should be a Senior Information Architect at Siegel+Gale.

As a Senior Information Architect in the Customer Experience practice at Siegel+Gale, you will:

  • Lead project teams, discovery processes and content development
  • Own, organize and write content for client deliverables—be it print or digital
  • Lead the brainstorms that ultimately uncover the solutions we create
  • Turn information gathered during audits of client and competitive materials into insights that can help our clients realize opportunities for improving their customer experience
  • Interview subject matter experts to learn more about client challenges and opportunities, especially those related to content management
  • Lead client meetings and presentations frequently
  • Guide junior practitioners in their project work to help them develop as a professional and member of the team
  • Pitch in on new business and marketing efforts as a subject matter expert

You’re a great fit for this position if you:

  • Feel at home when a problem can be solved with a smart information hierarchy and clever organizing principles—whether it’s print, digital or physical space
  • Enjoy and excel at analyzing large volumes of information and explaining what you learned in a clear, cohesive story using words and graphics
  • Have at least 3 years of direct experience, or at least 5 years of closely related experience, in 4 or more of the following areas:
    • Content strategy
    • Plain language writing
    • Wireframe development
    • Functional specifications
    • Data charting or visualization
    • Design for web, mobile, tablet or print
  • Understand the basics of at least four different industries and consider yourself an expert in 2 or more of them (check our portfolio for the industries we serve)
  • Earned an advanced degree in information architecture, interaction design, human-computer interaction, professional writing, design, research methods with human subjects, library sciences, humanities, social sciences or something similar, or maybe something radically different—since our team has folks from many disciplines and degree programs, we know that creativity comes in many forms, so we keep an open mind
  • Know Adobe CS5 like the back of your hand and understand content management software well enough to design systems that use the best and most current capabilities
  • Have some serious chops in diagramming software such as Axcure or OmniGraffle
